Opening or leading a medical aesthetic clinic in Pakistan requires more than a non-invasive certificate. Here’s what you need:
Mandatory Basic Degree:
You must be a registered medical practitioner with a valid MBBS or BDS degree and permanent PMDC/PMC registration.
Specialization (Core Specialists):
Full legal coverage is given to Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons with completed formal residency such as FCPS, MD, or MS.
Non-Core Specialists:
General practitioners with short-term non-invasive certificates now fall under the Non-Core Specialist category. PMDC is phasing out short-term certificates in favor of structured postgraduate diplomas (1–2 years) recognized by PMDC.
Non-medical certificate holders cannot operate independently:
Supervision Requirement:
Beauticians, nurses, or technicians must work under direct supervision of a PMDC-registered doctor.
Prescription-Only Medicines (POM):
Procedures like Botox, dermal fillers, and chemical peels involve prescription-only medicines. Only licensed doctors can prescribe and supervise these treatments.
All clinics must be licensed by the provincial healthcare authority:
Punjab: Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC)
Sindh: Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC)
KPK: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission (KPHCC)
Balochistan: Balochistan Healthcare Commission (BHC)
License Requirements:
The lead clinician’s PMDC/PMC registration must be displayed.
The clinic must meet Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) for hygiene, waste management, and emergency equipment.
